ProMax 3D Imaging

Your mouth is made up of multiple components. All of these components work together, enabling you to perform some different tasks. When your teeth and jaws are misaligned, the ability of your mouth to perform these tasks can be significantly impacted. Sawrie Orthodontics is here to help. To provide you with the best possible results from your orthodontic treatment, we need to have a good understanding of your mouth. ProMax 3D imaging helps us to do just that.

What Is ProMax 3D Imaging?

ProMax 3D imaging is a type of digital imaging technology that takes a 3D picture of the structures inside your mouth, including the ones that are hidden from view. With this technology, we not only see your teeth, but we are also able to see their roots, your jawbone, the muscles, the ligaments, and the joints.

How Does ProMax Work?

ProMax 3D imaging uses a cone beam X-ray. The cone beam rotates a full 360-degrees around your head to capture the 3D image. As the beam rotates, it takes a series of pictures. At the end of your scan, the pictures are pieced together to create the single image that appears almost instantly on our computer monitor. The image provides us with a complete picture of your mouth, allowing us to create a much more customized, effective treatment plan that will provide you with the best possible results.

Faster Scanning and Greater Comfort

Getting a scan with ProMax 3D imaging is simple. First, it is important to know that you will need to remove all metal jewelry, piercings, and hair accessories as well as glasses and hearing aids. You then sit at the machine and place your chin on the rest. We make any necessary adjustments and instruct you to bite down on the mouthpiece. The scan only takes only 14 seconds to complete. Additionally, the scan is much more comfortable. Because you only have to bite down on a mouthpiece, you do not need to worry about gagging.

A More Comprehensive View of Your Mouth

With ProMax 3D imaging, we are provided a much higher quality image of your mouth, including both the visible structures as well as those that are hidden. Specialized software allows us to move the image so that we can see your mouth from multiple angles. We are also able to zoom in on certain areas and enhance the images, providing us to see the smallest details. These features enable us to make a much more informed decision when it comes to your customized treatment. We are better equipped to create a treatment plan that will provide you with optimal results.

Reduced Radiation

With traditional imaging technology, there is a major concern over radiation exposure. This risk of exposure often prevents patients from getting the scans they need, which can then lead to issues going missed. As a result, serious complications can arise later on. ProMax 3D imaging uses digital technology. Because of this, your risk of radiation exposure is reduced up to 80%.
